This is a mixed media work on Mexican paper from the artist's floral archetype series begun in 2008. This is on Oaxacan paper purchased in Oaxaca city, Mexico from the paper making works of Fernando Toledo.
About Jamie Downs
I have been a painter since 1969. At one point, I pursued a photojournalistic career, separate from my fine art focus, which was on my painting; however since the late 1980’s, graphically, and more recently, with the emergence of digital photography, I have been able to merge digital elements into my mixed media work. I expect that new media will more frequently be a part of my art making in the future, though I will always return home to purely plastic, mixed media painting, which is the core of my creative being. For many years my paintings have been primarily non-objective, spiritually based, mixed media works. Since 2001, some elements from nature have begun to appear.
